Stagga – The Warm Air Room
I first happened on Stagga when someone sent me a link to his track “Timewarp” a few years ago. The track sounded so fresh and I really liked his minimal style, dubby vibes and of course THE BASS!!! Now Stagga is here with his first Album “The Warm Air Room” on Rag and Bone Records…
The album is a mixture of hip-hop, dubstep and techno, fully dubbed out and as wonky as you like! Stagga’s history as a hip-hop DJ shines through, he is one third of the infamous Chrome Kids, along with Monkey who has produced two of the tracks on The Warm Air Room (“The Chilski” and the brilliant “Original Misty”) and is also part of turntablist group Optimas Prime.
The album is full of interesting edits, unexpected switch-ups and, of course, some very crazy bass. The addition of vocals on “That’s When I Jacked It” and “Acidicts” (from Skamma and Joe Blow) is a welcome one, and the variation of stlyes and moods helps keep you interested in a way that many dance music albums fail to do.
Stand out tracks for me are “The Dragon” with it’s breakstep vibes and anxious, nervy lead lines and “Prehistoric UFO Rhythm” which is everything I loved about “Timewarp” and more.
Despite the wide range of styles that are on show here the one unifying theme is BASS, in a similar way to Rag and Bone Records who are releasing it. This is bass music at it’s best, don’t delay, get a copy today!!!
